Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team.
The Estimator will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs of construction projects and providing detailed proposals to clients.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction estimating, project management, and cost control.
The Estimator is responsible for accurately estimating costs associated with platework, structural steel, piping, and millwright & steel projects including materials, labor, and overhead expenses.
This role involves analyzing project specifications, collaborating with suppliers, and utilizing industry knowledge to provide precise cost estimates.
The Estimator plays a critical role in supporting project planning and decision-making processes.
Responsibilities:
1.
Project Analysis:
Review project specifications, blueprints, and other relevant documents to understand the scope and requirements of projects.
Conduct site visits, when necessary, to gather additional project details.
2.
Material and Resource Estimation:
Estimate the quantity and cost of materials required for each project.
Collaborate with suppliers/ purchasing to obtain accurate and up-to-date pricing for materials.
3.
Labor and Equipment Estimation:
Analyze project requirements to determine the labor and equipment resources needed.
Estimate labor costs, considering factors such as project complexity and duration.
4.
Cost Analysis and Budgeting:
Compile and analyze cost data to create comprehensive project cost estimates.
Develop detailed budgets, including material costs, labor costs, and overhead expenses.
5.
Supplier and Contractor Negotiation:
Negotiate with suppliers and contractors to obtain competitive pricing for materials and services.
Establish and maintain relationships with key vendors to ensure reliable and cost-effective partnerships.
6.
Bid Preparation:
Prepare accurate and specific proposals that clearly describes scope, inclusions, exclusions and qualifications.
7.
Documentation and Record Keeping:
Maintain detailed records of project estimates, bids, and related documentation.
Update cost databases and historical records for future reference.
Qualifications:
Ability to read and understand blueprints, project specifications and other contract documents.
Verifiable experience or aptitude in estimating platework and structural steel projects In-depth knowledge of steel and pipe materials, specifications, and industry standards.
Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Excellent attention to detail.
Must be Reliable and self-motivated Strong Communication and Negotiation Skills Ability to work independently and meet deadlines Some experience with performing material take offs.
Excellent mathematical & analytical skills Verifiable experience or aptitude in estimating structural steel or millwright is a plus.
Experience or exposure to CAD software is a plus.
